Automotive Test Rig Compliance Requirements: The Complete Checklist

What NDA, insurance, and liability documentation you'll need before accessing any automotive validation facility — and how RIGS & Roads automates it.

Accessing any serious automotive test facility — whether an EMC chamber, NVH lab, HV battery rig, or crash sled — requires a compliance package. This checklist covers what's typically required and why.

1. Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) Mandatory for any session involving proprietary test articles. Protects both the guest (your test data) and the host (facility capabilities and client list). RIGS & Roads handles countersignature digitally.

2. Certificate of Insurance (COI) Most facilities require a COI naming the operator as an additional insured party. Minimum coverage is typically $1M–$5M combined liability depending on rig value and test risk profile.

3. Test Plan Submission A brief test plan confirms the guest's configuration is within the rig's rated capacity. It protects the facility from misuse and protects you from liability if something goes wrong outside spec.

4. Liability Waiver Separate from the NDA, the liability waiver acknowledges risk allocation for consumables, unexpected equipment wear, and scheduling overruns.

5. Facility-Specific Requirements Some facilities add: - Safety induction training certification - ITAR/export compliance declarations (defence-adjacent work) - Proprietary data handling agreements

RIGS & Roads collects, stores, and timestamps all of the above within the booking workflow — no email chains required.
